SIMEON

Simeon, an elderly man, wise and devout, had seen a vision that he would not die before he had seen Jesus. Guided to the Temple where Jesus was, Simeon took him in his arms and sang this beautiful song.

Lord you now have set your servant free
To go in peace as you had promised;
For my eyes have seen the Savior
Whom you have prepared for all the world to see:
A light to enlighten the nations
And the glory of your people Israel.

I imagined Simeon dancing with Jesus sitting on his shoulders, dancing and dancing as a man who finally had discovered what it was to be free and at peace.
