THE DOG
(Part of The Hunger Series)

Dogs, hungry dogs, with suspicious, hopeful and shifty eyes seem to be everywhere. With bones making high ridges and deep hollows along its frame, the dog survives, scavenging and pawing through garbage, with its nose close to the ground. Sometimes its tail wags in spite of itself when I toss it a crust of bread: sometimes it snatches it with a suppressed growl and turns away and disappears around a corner. This sculpture is homage to the ubiquitous hungry dogs of India whose will to survive inspires awe.
